Keeping Your Carpeting Clean

Carpeting is great for many areas of your home such as in bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Their fibers are soft, easier on your feet, and reduce noise transference. They are also great at trapping dirt and dust too. This makes it easy for carpets to get dirty, especially with several people living in the same house and with pets. Yes, vacuuming your carpets regularly will help keep them clean, but it does not get the dirt and debris that gets trapped near the roots of the fibers. To truly clean your carpets, they need to be deep cleaned with a carpet cleaning machine. You can either rent or buy a carpet cleaner to get the job done, but how often should you be deep cleaning them?

The answer is it depends on several factors such as the amount of foot traffic they receive, if you have pets or not, any health concerns you may have, and if you smoke or not. For example, those who smoke and/or have pets will need to clean their carpets more often compared to non-smokers with no pets. That is because pets bring in dirt and grime on their paws and the smoking residue can get trapped into the carpets. In general, you should clean your carpet at least once a year. If your carpets receive a lot of traffic, you have children, or have light-colored carpets, we recommend that you clean them twice a year. Additionally, we recommend smokers clean their carpets 2-4 times a year to prevent the smoke residue and smell from getting trapped in your carpeting.
